Challenging Thoughts for the Gospel read on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018

The beasts of the field say: “Love made me.”

The birds of the air say: “Love made me.”

The creatures that swim in the rivers and the sea say: “Love made me.”

Only man, his back turned to the sun, does not say “Love made me.”

But when he turns round in the light of Christ,

then he too knows in his heart “Love made me”

and he cries out with every living creature, “Love made me!

My Father in heaven loves me.”

God has not only adopted us, but we are his by birth:

we have been born into his kingdom.

My boy was as much mine when he was a day old as now that he is 14.

He was my son,

although it did not appear what he would be when he attained manhood.

He is mine,

although he may have to undergo probation under tutors and governors.

The children of God are not perfect,

but we are perfectly his children.

Dwight L. Moody

I am convinced now that none of us is ever really godless.

I know now that He is always there for us

whether or not we are there for Him.”

A child is not likely to find a father in God

unless he finds something of God in his father.

The decisive question for man is:

Is he related to something infinite or not?

That is the telling question of life.
